2023 Kia Niro Revealed: Bold Two-Tone Styling Helps to Make This Hybrid Stand Out!

2023 Kia Niro revealed
The 2023 Kia Niro has been revealed for the Seoul MobilityShow. And just as expected, it's a blend of the outgoing Niro's basic profile, but with much more visual flair inspired by the Haba Niro concept from a couple of years ago.

Niro Coming from the concept are many details starting with the elaborate LED headlights and zigzagging grille accents. The large lower grille also features contrasting black trim that blends into the front arches and follows along down the doors. The concept featured the contrasting parts on the front fender, too, but that was dialed back.

It's made up for by the matte black contrasting rear quarter panel that's even bigger than on the Haba Niro. The slim vertical taillights blend into the quarters, too, and the rear is mostly devoid of additional lighting save for two small pods located in the rear bumper. The main difference is that this production Niro still has the same somewhat rounded and road-oriented shape, rather than a more rugged and upright shape. This is Kia Niro Revealed.

We've heard a lot of things about the upcoming Kia Niro, andtoday the Korean automaker revealed even more details about the 2018 Niro. As usual, this is a hybrid crossover SUV which will include a small gasoline engine with a fuel-saving form of direct injection. In addition to the usual battery-electric and hybrid parts, there's a three-cylinder engine with a tiny bump in power for the plug-in version. The electric motor, meanwhile, only helps boost acceleration slightly when the lithium-ion batteries are depleted.

And that's kind of what makes it a Niro. It has the same name and general look, but it's been thoroughly tweaked from its entry-level2017 iteration. Kia has added numerous infotainment and driver-assist technologies Bold Two-Tone Styling.

The bold two-tone bodywork is complimented by metallic paint, and rather than being black and silver, the exterior is full-on bright metallic red, for a more aggressive stance. Kia calls this color optically clear. The upholstery is black with red and chrome accents, though we're not sure what kind of the chrome bits on the seats are. A silver line trim extends around the base of the doors and across the tailgate.

Inside, you'll find "V-motion" patterned seats. Red accents take over the inserts, while red and black accent stitching can be found throughout. The fascia and instrument panel are accented by red and black plastics, and the steering wheel is wrapped in red leather with silver stitching. At the top of the center stack, there's a 6.

Contrasting Black Trim This design is sharp and eye-catching, but not necessarily traditional in the crossover space. But with its overall shape, size, and layout, it very much reminds us of the Hyundai Kona, which is currently on the market and was also based on the Kia Niro's same platform. And speaking of the Kona, Kia said that that this new Niro won't look like it. While we don't want to believe that Kona will be launched in the U.S. in the near future, the resemblance is eerie. 40 Percent of Niro Sales Are Trucks and SUVs Even though this is a hybrid, most of its sales are to light trucks and SUVs. The Kia Niro has been fairly successful for the Koreanautomaker since its introduction. It was Kia's first plug-in hybrid, too, and has quickly become a favorite among people who buy hybrids because it's relatively affordable, its fuel economy is good, and it's fun to drive. 21-inch 5-spoke Style Link multi-spoke wheels White brake calipers 20-inch black 5-spoke Style Link multi-spoke wheels 19-inch black 5-spoke Style Link multi-spoke wheels.

The Niro retains its underpinnings and overall stance from the outgoing model, too. The only changes are made in the area of the crossover's body, which, instead of the regular steel-colored roof, features a new black roof. And for that reason, Kia uses its usual range of lights, like the 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that also vary in color between a bold red and a subtle white.

The Niro sits on a 55-degree angled platform and this has resulted in a somewhat stretched wheelbase for a total length of 4.64 meters Matte Black Rear Quarter Panel Those headlights then merge into the same black housing around the license plate. The trunk and hatch are smooth and flow into the rear hatch, while a dual exhaust finisher and subtle rear bumper badge complete the look 21 Photos.

There's also some cool color-matching done to the all-black interior. We've already seen this on the 2018 Niro Plug-In Hybrid, so you can see how the vibrant orange highlights mesh with the piano's black interior. It looks great. The Niro will follow the conventional layout and layout of the current model, so you'll find a powertrain focused around a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four engine working with an electric motor to deliver 394 horsepower (303 kilowatts) and 346 pound-feet (493 Newton-meters) of torque.

Slim Vertical Taillights In the back, it's all changed. Two similarly sized slightly inclined double arches combined with the horizontal tail lamps, give the Niro a sporty, compact shape with the kind of proportions you'd expect from an MPV. The trunk lid rises up and reveals the panel that matches the upper grille with LED turn signals mounted inside.

They're likely to be in keeping with Hyundai's current design language, which also incorporates similar LED turn signals inside 2023 Kia Niro Niro is an impressive car of this size, being powered by a simple but powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 148 horsepower and 147 pound-feet of torque.

2023 Kia Niro Revealed Conclusion

If we took everything we learned about the Niro's exterior and added it to our initial, now-dated review of the vehicle, here's what it would read like: It's a good-looking hybrid crossover that might look the best of any Kia offered right now, if only it didn't come with so much weight in the roof. The design changes should help manage it, though.

Hopefully, it won't stay this way for long, because the more conventional appearance could deter people from buying the crossover in the first place. It could be like when the Haba Niro concept made its debut at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show. It's an example of the unique styling of Korean automakers that people can't resist.
